Designing a Van Water System That Works
Most builds use a fresh tank, a grey-water tank or jug, a pump, and PEX or braided lines. Keep it simple until you have camped twice.
Layout principles
- Fresh tank inside insulated space in cold climates
- Grey water stored in sealed container you empty legally
- Shore fill and vent lines accessible for cleaning
- Shutoff valves at pump and tank
Winter note
Lines along exterior walls freeze first. Route plumbing through interior cabinets and add drain-down procedure for shoulder seasons.
