About

Who writes WP Starter Guide and how we approach WordPress education.

vanlife is an independent resource for people converting cargo and passenger vans into campers they can actually live and travel in. We are not a dealership, a conversion shop, or a sponsored brand channel—just builders documenting what works, what fails, and what we would do differently next time.

Why this site exists

Most van build information is scattered across hour-long videos, abandoned forum threads, and Instagram posts that show the finished product but skip the hard decisions. We write ordered, written guides you can skim at a workbench with dusty hands—no autoplay, no fluff, no “link in bio.”

Who we write for

  • First-time builders choosing a van and planning a realistic budget.
  • Weekend converters fitting the project around a job and a driveway.
  • Full-time hopefuls who need reliable electrical, water, and insulation—not just a pretty interior.

How we approach every guide

  • Safety is not optional. Propane, lithium batteries, high-current wiring, and structural mounting get explicit warnings and, where the law requires it, a clear “hire a professional” note.
  • Honest tradeoffs. We compare options by cost, weight, durability, and difficulty—including the cheap choice and why it sometimes wins.
  • Built for the road. A van flexes, vibrates, and gets wet. Methods that only work in a static tiny house do not make the cut.
  • Tested and revised. When products change or we learn a better method, we update the guide instead of leaving outdated advice online.

What we don’t do

We do not sell conversion services, certify gas or electrical installs, or guarantee that a build will pass inspection in your region. Local regulations vary widely—always confirm requirements with the relevant authority before you rely on our guides for a habitation certificate or insurance.

How we fund the site

Some guides include affiliate links to tools, materials, or gear. If you buy through them we may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. We also may display advertising. Neither affiliate income nor ads change our recommendations—we describe downsides even for products we link to. See our Disclaimer for full details.
