You do not need a $5,000 tool wall. You need reliable basics and access to a few specialty items for one weekend.

Buy these

  • Cordless drill/driver and impact driver
  • Quality drill bits for metal and wood
  • Jigsaw or track saw for plywood
  • Measuring tape, level, square, pencils
  • Safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves
  • Rivet gun for sheet metal trim

Borrow or rent

  • Angle grinder for rust and cutouts
  • Hole saws for roof fan openings
  • Multimeter if you are new to electrical—buy one eventually

Nice to have later

Router for trim, pocket-hole jig, table saw at a makerspace. Do not delay your build waiting for perfect tools.
